Qualifications

I am based in Camelford, North Cornwall.  I qualified at Clifton Practice in Plymouth in 2018 and hold a Diploma in Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy (DHP) and a Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma (HPD).  I am also a member of the Association for Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (AfSFH) and the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH).  After obtaining a BSc (Hons) degree at Warwick University in the 1990’s I joined Devon and Cornwall Police.  Whilst dealing with the mad, bad and sad my knowledge of psychology broadened as I attended training courses to help me understand victims of crime and the impact of trauma.  In 2018 I took the plunge and trained as a hypnotherapist.    I retired from the police in 2019 and now work full-time from my own private practice.

Sessions

The initial consultation will last around 60 minutes. I will establish what you would like to achieve from the sessions and confirm that hypnotherapy is right for you. I will explain how the brain works and why we use stress and depression as a survival technique. The initial consultation is free but does not include hypnosis. You will be given a complimentary relaxation CD or Dropbox link, this should be used between sessions to help reduce stress. Subsequent sessions will last around 60 minutes and will consist of some theory followed by about 30 minutes of hypnosis. Some clients notice an improvement after one or two sessions whilst others need around 10 sessions. This will be discussed in more detail at the free consultation. You must be prepared to make changes and results vary with each individual.

Zoom sessions are now available which means you could have therapy from the comfort of your own home. Please make contact with me for further information.

“Smile and the world smiles with you – cry and you cry alone”

Girl in a pink dress, silver sandals and sunglasses, sitting on a swing with a big smile on her face. There is sand around her and a low fence. Outside the fence is a boat yard.

A smile is infectious and difficult to ignore, but more importantly it can lift your mood and lower stress.  Science has shown that when we smile our body also releases serotonin which reduces stress.
